Dr. Nigel Winspear leads the SCOR Catastrophe Management team for Asia-Pacific; and is currently in transition to the role of Head of Model Evaluation, SCOR.
Nigel has 15 years of CAT management experience (out of nearly 18 years total experience) and holds UK degrees in Geological Sciences (BSc), Information Technology (MSc) and Sedimentology (PhD). He also holds Chartered Geologist (CGeol) and European Geologist (EurGeol) accreditations; and is a member of the Steering Group for Natural Hazards for the International Council for Science (ICSU)’s Regional Office for Asia-Pacific.

Mohan has over 25 years of work experience with reinsurance intermediaries, catastrophe modelling companies in property and agriculture, engineering design and consulting companies and academia in Singapore, the U.S.A. and Nepal. 
 
Since November 2015, Mohan has been working as an Independent Consultant in the areas of cat risk modelling/analytics and management. In the ten years he has been in Singapore, Mohan has served as Head of Analytics, Asia, and then Head of R&D, Asia Pacific, at Aon Benfield, Singapore, CEO of a startup property cat modelling company, Independent Consultant and Director (Modelling) at an agriculture cat modelling company.
 
Mohan is also an invited member of the Industry Review Committee, Institute of Catastrophe Risk Management, Nanyang Technological University (since November 2012). Besides his industry experience, he has taught undergraduate and graduate classes in the USA (Santa Clara University) and Nepal (Institute of Engineering). 
 
Mohan holds a Ph.D. and Masters in Structural Engineering from Stanford University, California, USA and a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India.

Professor Shah has been a pioneer in the fields of risk analysis, earthquake engineering, and probabilistic methods for over 35 years. He has served Stanford University in many capacities, including Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering and Founding Director of the John A. Blume Earthquake Engineering Center. 
 
Professor Shah is the author of one book, has contributed to chapters in many books and has been an author or co-author of more than 350 technical papers and reports. He has been keynote speaker at many national, international conferences and has been a regular keynote invited speaker for many corporations. He is a member of many Editorial Boards of Professional Journals and Professional Societies.
 
Professor Shah is Obayashi Professor of Engineering (Emeritus) at Stanford Unviersity, and also the Founder and Senior Advisor of Risk Management Solutions, Inc., a major provider of risk management solutions to the global insurance industry headquarterd in Newark, California. 
 
Professor Shah has since 1992, had an engagement with Nanyang Technological University both as researcher and contributor to governance. He became the Founding Chairman of the Advisory Board of ICRM and has been integral in driving ICRM’s vision to be Asia’s leading research institute in catastrophe risk. 

Jason Smith

Jason Smith was appointed as IAG’s Chief Risk Officer, Asia in March 2013.  He has accountability for oversight and maturation of Risk Management and Governance capabilities across all of IAG’s Asia subsidiary and joint venture businesses in Singapore; China; India; Malaysia; Thailand; Vietnam; and Indonesia.  
 
Jason holds an MBA, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Economics and has a Fellowship with the Financial Services Institute of Australia.  He is also a member of the Institute of Bankers Malaysia and was the former Chairman of the Risk Managers Group for the Institute of Bankers Malaysia.

Richard Sanders

Richard has worked for Willis Re since 1994; previously he worked in the oil exploration industry in the UK and overseas. Richard was one of the founders of the Catastrophe Management Services (CMS) group in Willis, and is one of their senior catastrophe specialists. 
He has worked on natural hazards projects in Japan, Algeria, Europe and more recently in Asia, with a particular specialism in flood risk analysis. He is one of the most experienced catastrophe risk analysts in the insurance industry and has broad and wide ranging knowledge across the discipline.
 
Since 2008 Richard has been based with Willis Re in Singapore where he represents Willis's catastrophe modelling and analysis capabilities in support of brokers in SE Asia as well as coordinating the Asia Pacific activities of the Willis Research Network. Richard holds a BSc and an MSc in Geography, and is a Chartered Geographer.

Dr. Arash Nasseri is a Senior Engineer, Manager in the Earthquake group of AIR's Research and Modeling division. He has been involved in developing and updating AIR's earthquake vulnerability model for Europe, Australia, Japan, Canada, South America, South East Asia and the USA. He holds a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, an M.Sc. in Earthquake Engineering from Amirkabir University in Tehran, Iran, and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Tehran. Prior to joining AIR, Arash conducted research on the application of earthquake recordings for use in seismic performance assessment and gained extensive experience in designing residential and industrial structures.

Adi is a technocrat of catastrophe risk modeling with both technical and managerial experience. He began his career in 1982 as a structural engineer and worked for engineering consulting companies for 12 years.
For the past 20 years Adi has been involved in developing and managing Cat models for the global insurance industry. He also led several consulting studies for the multi-lateral development agencies including the World Bank. Adi was instrumental in setting up and managing successfully Cat R&D teams in his previous appointments.
Since 2011, in a similar role, Adi has been leading the Impact Forecasting’s Asia Pacific team spread across Singapore and Bangalore.

Brad joined Aon in September 2001 and is currently based in Singapore.  He has 15 years of experience in reinsurance related analytics with a focus on catastrophe modelling and management.
 
As Head of Aon Benfield Analytics, Asia, Brad is responsible for leading the development, innovation and application of Aon Benfield’s analytical capabilities to meet our client’s strategic risk and capital objectives. This includes the Catastrophe Management and Actuarial teams and coordination with Regulatory & Rating Agency Advisory and Research & Product Innovation teams in addition to the Asia Pacific Impact Forecasting catastrophe model development team.
 
Prior to joining Aon, Brad worked on 3-D modeling and simulation within the mineral exploration and environmental industries.

Iain Reynolds

Iain Reynolds is the Head of Analytics for Peak Re. He has almost 20 years of experience in catastrophe modelling and oversees Peak Re’s pricing and risk accumulation for all lines of business across all territories.
 
Prior to joining Peak Re, Iain was Head of Catastrophe Modelling at Guy Carpenter Singapore, looking after the catastrophe modelling team for South East Asia, Korea and India. He has worked for Guy Carpenter in various roles and in several locations. 
 
Iain has also had roles with GE Frankona Re, Gerling Global Re and EQECAT.  
 
Iain holds an honours degree in Physics from the University of Manchester.

Stefan Förster

Stefan Förster is Head of Property Treaty Underwriting for South East Asia at Munich Re Singapore. Until September 2014 he was heading the Casualty & Marine Underwriting Department in Singapore. He led the Casualty Underwriting Team for Japan & India in Munich for three years before he joined Munich Re Singapore in January last year.
 
His international experience over the last 23 years with Munich Re and Swiss Re includes various markets in Europe, Americas and Asia. Stefan worked not only as Property & Casualty underwriter, but also for many years as Client Manager for multi-national companies. He holds a degree in Business Mathematics from the University of Augsburg. Stefan is a fellow of the German Actuarial Society (DAV) since 1995. 
 
He devotes most of his spare time to his wife and his two children. Besides that he is interested in Computer Science (Linux).

Amitabha Ray

Amitabha Ray is the Head of Property Treaty Underwriting for Southeast Asia, India and Korea in Swiss Re. Based in Singapore, Amit manages the property treaty portfolio and oversees a team of seven underwriting professionals, as well as develops alternative solutions on multi-line multi-year basis with a team of structurers. He is also involved in the design of parametric and index covers in the public-private-partnership space.
 
An 18-year veteran of Swiss Re, Amit has worked mainly in the property reinsurance business in his career. Prior to his current role in Singapore, Amit has held various roles in Zurich, Hong Kong, Mumbai and Johannesburg in areas including facultative, alternative risk transfer and business development within Swiss Re.
 
Amit holds a Masters of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School in Australia, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master's degree from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.

Apoorv Dabral

Dr. Apoorv Dabral currently holds the position of Head of Catastrophe Modelling, APAC in JLT Re, Singapore office. In this role, he is responsible to lead and manage the catastrophe modelling related activities of JLT Re in the APC region.
 
Before joining JLT Re, Apoorv was working with a leading catastrophe modelling firm as a Manager of Research and Modelling where his role also required him to actively lead, manage and support the research initiatives, model updates and validation in the Asia-Pacific region. In his previous roles, he had been involved in the development of the Builder’s Risk model, and wind vulnerability modules for the tropical cyclones in the US, Hawaii and the Caribbean territories.
 
Apoorv earned a BS in Civil Engineering from Pune University, India, and an MS and a PhD in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University.

Ernest is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA) with over 15 years of experience in the reinsurance and investment banking industry covering a diverse range of practice areas from life & non-life reinsurance, M&A and alternative risk transfer to the capital markets. Prior to JLT, he has held previous roles in originating and structuring ILS at Swiss Re Capital Markets, and structuring insurance swaps and derivatives for Deutsche Bank’s Asia-Pacific clients. 
 
His is currently a senior actuary within the JLT Re Analytics team in London and is responsible for reinsurance pricing, structuring and advisory for JLT's reinsurance and corporate clients. He is also part of JLT Advisory in his capacity as an approved person under the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in advising on and dealing in securities and derivatives. From August 2016, he will be relocating to Singapore to assume the role of Head of Analytics Asia and is looking forward to this exciting new opportunity.

Roopa is an experienced professional in the property insurance and reinsurance industry with expertise in the area of risk and catastrophe management. Currently she is leading the CAT management practice in Asia Pacific for Chubb Insurance, which is the largest publicly traded P&C company in the world. Prior to this Roopa started her career at a hedge fund in equity analysis and then moved the path of retrocession to reinsurance and finally joined the insurance route at AIG, a direction opposite to contrary. 
 
Roopa has a MBA in Finance and Marketing and over the years has developed an in-depth understanding of catastrophe management along with a deeper insight into how companies should be differentiating themselves by integrating this evolving function in the organisation.
 
In her free time, Roopa enjoys dancing and her new area of interest is learning more about transhumanism.

Kevin Bermingham joined QBE Asia Pacific in November 2015 as Catastrophe Modelling Manager for the Asia Pacific division based in Singapore. 
 
Asia Pacific plays an important role in QBE’s development into one of the world’s top 20 insurers and reinsurers; the division operates in 15 countries with a strong focus on becoming a key player in the specialty and commercial lines of business. 
 
Prior to his experience at QBE, he was the Catastrophe Accumulation Manager at Apollo Syndicate 1969 at Lloyd’s of London, providing portfolio roll-up and Cat pricing analytics for the D&F, Binders & Treaty Classes. 
 
Before that, Kevin worked for Aon Benfield supporting the placement of the Retro classes of business, developing multi-model skills for analysing global exposures for London Market clients.

At present, Himanshu is employed with AIG Singapore, as Assistant Regional Manager responsible for Cat Management and Analytics in the APAC region. Dr. Kazuya Fujimura is Vice President and Managing Director of the AIR Worldwide Tokyo office. He is responsible for business development, marketing, and client services in Japan. He has also been involved in research and development of the AIR earthquake and typhoon models for Japan. After graduating from Kyoto University in 1993, Kazuya joined the Kajima Corporation, where he worked as a Structural Engineer. Prior to joining AIR, he was a senior modeler at another catastrophe modeling firm. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Kyoto University. Kazuya earned his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering and Masters in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley in 2005, with a specialization in structural reliability.

Tom Larsen

Tom Larsen is Hazard Product Architect at CoreLogic. Mr. Larsen has served as an associate at EQECAT and its prior operating companies since 1989. He is responsible for deeply understanding product requirements from the product management group and translating, guiding and directing EQECAT's methodology and architecture to ensure they are aligned with client needs.
 
While at EQECAT, Mr. Larsen has played critical roles in the development of tools to help insurance and government clients better measure and manage their risk from large-scale catastrophes. Leading a reconnaissance team after the Loma Prieta Earthquake, he helped refine financial models that helped banks estimate post-catastrophe mortgage default risk. He was part of the team which assessed building and critical infrastructure damage caused by Hurricane Andrew and led the team implementing the financial risk calculation for EQECAT's USWind and USQuake models, as well as the risk modeling platform RQE™ (Risk Quantification & Engineering). He also has co-authored numerous reports and articles related to extreme-risk hazards and related computer modeling.
 
Mr. Larsen has experience in natural catastrophe modeling for the insurance and reinsurance industries and government dating back to 1989. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Stanford University, and a Masters in Structural Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
He is based in Oakland, CA.

Milan Simic

As Senior Vice President and Managing Director of International Operations, Dr. Milan Simic is responsible for business development, strategic growth initiatives, and client services in London, Munich, Beijing, Tokyo, and Singapore. During his previous tenure as Managing Director of AIR’s London office, he oversaw AIR’s significant growth in the London market. Milan has more than 25 years of experience in risk assessment, engineering consulting, teaching, and research. Immediately prior to joining AIR, he was with Benfield’s Natural Hazards team. He is a Chartered Engineer through the UK Institution of Civil Engineers, a regular speaker at catastrophe-related conferences and has authored numerous papers and articles on insurance loss assessment and soil-structure interaction. He is also a Member of the OECD’s High-Level Advisory Board on Financial Management of Large-Scale Catastrophes. He earned his MSc in Hydraulic Structures from the University of Belgrade and a Ph.D. in Earthquake Engineering from the University of Bristol.

Professor Pan Tso-Chien

Professor Tso-Chien PAN is the Founding Executive Director of the Institute of Catastrophe Risk Management (ICRM), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore.  He received his PhD and MS degrees from the University of California at Berkeley in USA, and his BS degree from the National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan.
 
Prof Pan specializes in the analysis and design of structures against earthquake ground motions and other dynamic loading.  He has made important contributions to both the national and international research communities.  Prof Pan is currently Secretary General of the World Seismic Safety Initiative, International Association for Earthquake Engineering. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Engineering Singapore, and a Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology.
 
Prof Pan joined the NTU faculty in 1985 and has served as Dean/Chair of the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering.  After which, Prof Pan has served for 5 years as NTU’s Dean of the College of Engineering before taking on the leadership of ICRM at NTU Singapore in 2011.  ICRM is the first multi-disciplinary risk management research institute of its kind in Asia and amongst a handful of such centres in the world.
